AI + real footage mash-ups
Popcorn isn’t limited to fully AI-generated footage. You can splice in clips downloaded from YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, X, Vimeo, and 1700+ other sites — and have the agent produce the rest of the movie around them.
When to use this
Section titled “When to use this”- You want to react to or recap a real event with cinematic AI cutaways.
- You’re building a documentary-style short with archival footage and AI-generated B-roll.
- You’re remixing a viral moment and want fresh framing/captions/audio over the real clip.
- You have a hero clip of a real person or product and want to expand it into a full ad.
Prompt pattern
Section titled “Prompt pattern”
<Format>mixing real footage from<URL>with<AI footage description>.<Length, orientation>.
Examples
Section titled “Examples”30-second vertical mash-up: open with the clip of
<URL>from 0:14 to 0:18, then cut to AI-generated cinematic shots of a city skyline at sunset, then back to the clip from 0:30 to 0:36. Add narration over the AI shots only.
Reaction to https://www.tiktok.com/… — keep the original clip in a small picture-in-picture, generate the host as
@Miloreacting in the main frame.
What Popp will do
Section titled “What Popp will do”- Download each source URL using the appropriate site adapter.
- Trim/clip each downloaded source to the time range you specified (or pick the strongest moment if you didn’t).
- Generate any AI shots needed for the connective tissue.
- Generate narration, music, captions.
- Compose the final movie with consistent pacing and color across the cuts.
- Be explicit about cut order and timing. Mash-ups depend on rhythm. Telling Popp the order — “open with the real clip, cut to AI, back to the real clip” — will get you closer to the intent.
- Use exact time ranges when you have them. “the clip from 0:14 to 0:18 of
<URL>” is unambiguous. - Color and grade. AI footage and real footage often look very different. You can ask for a unifying color treatment.
- Match aspect ratios. A 16:9 source clipped into a vertical movie will be cropped or letterboxed; mention what you want.
A note on rights
Section titled “A note on rights”You’re responsible for the rights to any source URL or clip you ask Popp to download and use. The same rules apply for downloads as for reactions and clip-a-video.
